3/150 - Mmmmmaple butter

Jessica and I sampled Maple Butter in Quebec City this fall, and brought bring back these small samples in our carry-ons (FYI - maple spread is specifically listed as liquid by the the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority! Also, I have a YQB CATSA maple butter coffee break conspiracy theory...).

This delicious deliciousness is to be used sparingly until I get the courage to make it myself! Today was my first time using it in meal prep. I made us toasted muffins with ham, cheese and light dusting of maple butter. It was delish! A great treat to reward a morning of a less favourable winter activity, shoveling.

Have you tried maple butter? What's your favourite maple offering?

2/150 - If the Snowshoe fits...wear it!

We all went snowshoeing!

Donning our best long johns and winter gear, we broke out and (in Kirk's case) cut the tags off our snowshoes. Lewisporte has a great cross-country skiing and snowshoe trail with a warm-up hut! I used to love after work snowshoeing in Pippy Park (highly recommend it for friends in St. John's!), and I was so glad friends invited me to participate in the O2 Athletics Club and partake in snowshoeing in Lewisporte last year. This was our first time showshoeing together, and it won't be our last; even Bear enjoyed it! Such a great experience, we're even learning more tips and tricks for next time :)

Have you tried snowshoeing? Did you like it? Where are your favourite trails?

1/150 - Off to a 'Schitt'-y start...

We watched Schitt's Creek

It was our first time viewing this award winning Canadian television show, which stars Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy (who is also co-creator with son, Daniel). CBC starts airing the 3rd season on January 10th, but we started with the first episode of the first season this morning on Netflix. We're looking forward to cuddling on the couch with cups of hot chocolate and episode #2 later.

Canadian TV and movies are great; there is so much talent here! The CRTC is doing a great job of promoting quality Canadian programming, and we should all try to watch a little more of it to support local actors/actresses, writers, producers, technicians and that industry as a whole.

We have to thank Paul and Elizabeth for recommending this; friend recommendations are always the best! What's your favourite Canadian TV show or movie?
